If you searched refrigerated trailer rental San Diego, here is the honest layout. Left Coast Refrigeration does not keep a yard, a satellite shop, or a staged fleet inside the city of San Diego. We are a commercial refrigeration shop in Escondido. Both trailers we rent are shop-owned, maintained in our own building at 1175 Industrial Ave, Suite J, Escondido, CA 92029, and delivered by our own crew. They leave that shop and they come back to that shop. The city of San Diego is a delivery destination, not a second home base.
That is also why a San Diego kitchen or event would rent from an Escondido refrigeration shop instead of a broker. A catalog can park a cold box in a lot. It cannot send the same technicians who maintain the trailer to look at the walk-in that failed. If you are renting because the box died, product goes into the trailer and the same crew can inspect the cooler while it is on site — gasket, door, floor, or a fuller walk-in repair — so you are not stretching a rental because nobody will diagnose the actual problem. Free delivery vs a quoted trip into the city
Delivery is free within 20 miles of the Escondido shop. That circle is measured from 1175 Industrial Ave, not from downtown. The north edge of the city of San Diego is often inside it. Central San Diego, downtown, and the South Bay are usually quoted rather than free. Give us the street address — the actual lot, not “San Diego” — and we will tell you which side of the line you are on before anything is booked. There is no surprise mileage buried on the invoice.
We serve the county from one address. If you are actually in North County, the closer pages are Oceanside, San Marcos, Vista, Carlsbad, and Poway, all inside the free radius, with Encinitas on the edge. About 7 feet wide, not the 6-foot rentals others advertise
Both trailers are about seven feet wide inside — usable interior, not a marketing number. A lot of refrigerated trailer rentals advertised around San Diego County are six feet wide. The extra foot is the aisle you actually walk when you are loading sheet pans during a rush. There is no third size waiting off-site, and we do not rent a catalog of widths we do not own.
- 12′ refrigerated trailer — about 7 ft wide × 12 ft long, 0–35°F, plugs into a standard 120V outlet. Generator optional.
- 16′ cooler/freezer trailer — about 7 ft wide × 16 ft long, 0–35°F, needs a 220V 30 amp plug. Generator optional.
Both hold anywhere in the 0–35°F band. Cooler-range product sits at the top of that band; freezer-range product sits at the bottom. Tell us which end you need when you book. These units hold temperature. They are not blast freezers, and we do not advertise temperatures outside 0–35°F. Load product already cold.
Power, generator, and San Diego lots
Power is the part city sites get wrong most often. Plenty of older restaurant suites only have a wall outlet you can actually reach — no 220V 30 amp receptacle in a legal parking spot. That is a 12-foot trailer on 120V, or a generator on either unit. Newer industrial space is more likely to have the 30-amp plug the 16-foot wants, but only if the trailer can sit where that plug lives. If the site is a parking structure, a closed street, a banquet lawn, or any spot where you have not tested the receptacle, add the generator. A trailer with no power is a warm box. Book the unit with or without a generator rather than guessing on the day we roll.
Placement in San Diego lots is a separate question from mileage. Downtown, the Gaslamp, and East Village are tight: alleys, loading docks with height bars, mixed-use buildings with property managers, and stalls you will want back at 6PM. Mission Valley hotels and event jobs often have room and no reliable shore power, which makes the generator the default rather than an upsell. We need truck access into the lot, overhead clearance, pavement that will take the unit, a place it can sit for the whole rental, and someone on site to meet the driver.
